I come to this field with broad life experiences that have informed my work with clients. Before becoming a therapist, I worked for 13 years in software development and management in a large Bay Area technology company. I have real life experience in the Silicon Valley, two career family and the stresses involved. I have two grown children. When they were in school, I was home with them and very active in providing educational enrichment activities to them and their classmates.
I have had the great good fortune to work with an outstanding set of mentors and colleagues who have greatly enriched my development as a therapist and who have kindly shared their thoughts about my work.
In Sharon Mead, clients will find a mature therapist who is exceptionally warm, competent, and attuned to the client's experience. With couples Sharon brings an unusual ability to understand the reality, emotions, and needs of each couple member -- while still holding the needs of the couple as a unit in mind. With her deep understanding of the imprint and impact of trauma and other past experiences, plus her empathy and close attention to present goals and challenges, it is no surprise that Sharon again and again makes a real difference in her clients' lives and relationships. Finally she brings the gift of a warm and ready sense of humor that clients find relaxing, safe, and facilitative of new growth a renewed sense of life's possibilities.

I have experienced Sharon’s work during the advanced training for EFT (Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy) in 2014. Sharon is a warm, open and engaged therapist with a lot of life experience and good clinical intuitions. She has a solid understanding of the attachment perspective in couples work and of the impact of trauma on people’s lives. She is also highly sensitive to cultural differences and issues of social and racial injustice.”

My therapy is grounded in theories that are proven, effective, and scientifically based. I believe that my attunement to you is my most important tool and that my life experience has uniquely suited me to working with a wide range of clients especially in Silicon Valley. I have gotten extensive post-graduate training to augment my education. I use an approach called Emotionally Focused Therapy.
Change is created through new experience, a new sense made of experience in both mind and body, and repetition. This is made possible by a supportive relationship with a skilled therapist with whom you feel accepted and safe.
